PLAYTEST GAME 50

Wow. I finally reached Game 50! Once again I played this one solo.

On Turn 1, the Kaiju forces deployed through their portal at Manila. There was minimal UNRF resistance and it was an pushover. The Kaiju forces also pushed on to Hong Kong where there was a UNRF base, and destroyed it and the UNRF forces there.

On Turn 2, the Kaiju (Sazzarran Armed Forces) had a base at Manila. They only had one Portal appear at Panama City, which was easy to take with little resistance. The UNRF apparently did not have enough forces at the right place at the right time. The UNRF had bases at Hawaii, Mexico City, and a Sea Base between Sydney and Hawaii. The UNRF were still ahead with 61 Victory Points (VP's) and the Kaiju with 27 VP's.

On Turn 3, the Kaiju had a base at Manila, and Panama City. One Portal appears again, this time over Perth. The Kaiju take over Perth and push forward to Sydney where they were also able to take it over with some resistance from the UNRF. There was also some fighting in the area of Manila, but the Kaiju managed to hold it. The turn ends with UNRF having 81 VP's and Kaiju with 63 VP's. A slow victory for the Kaiju.

On Turn 4, the Kaiju have a base at Manila, Panama City, and Sydney. One Portal appears over Vladivostok. The Kaiju take it over as there was only a UNRF Garrison unit there. However, the forces that deployed from that Portal were also minimal (two Reaper units) as the Kaiju used their resources to set up their third base at Sydney. In this turn, the humans are getting thinned out and having a hard time holding two fronts, one on the west coast and one on the east coast. The Kaiju are also a little thin for forces. The UNRF are now at 112 VP's and Kaiju at 92 VP's.

On Turn 5, the Kaiju get lucky with three portals appearing. Now for those of you who have played this game already, you know that by this time it spells doom and gloom for the UNRF, especially when three portals appear during the same turn.

The Portals appear over Anchorage. Lima and Wellington. At Anchorage, the Kaiju forces take out a UNRF Garrison unit and push their extra forces to Vancouver where they also eliminate the one Army and Air unit there.

In Lima, which is right next to Panama City, where the Kaiju already have a base and a Titan as well as some units, the forces are attacked by UNRF forces from Mexico City. The UNRF try to put all their effort into taking Lima back at least. The UNRF sent two Navy and three PIB (Powered Infantry Brigades) to Lima, against a Giant Ape, 1 Reaper, 1 Air, 1 Land and 1 Kaiju Garrison unit already there. Although the UNRF forces eliminated the Giant Ape and a Land unit, they were wiped out except for one Navy unit that squeaked its way back to Mexico City to lick its wounds. The Kaiju forces also used a Bio-Bomb, which affected one of the PIB units, turning it into a Kaiju Drone unit. For those of you not in the know, a Bio-Bomb, when successful, will turn any human Army and PIB units into mutated reptiles, similar to the Sazzarran land forces. Unfortunately, the Sazzarran scientists could not perfect the biological substance in the bomb so the humans become hybrids but under the control of the Sazzarran forces.

So, Lima was a bust for the humans.

The biggest battle occurred at Wellington, where the third portal appeared. It just so happened that the UNRF had a Sea base, two Aquatic Warriors (given the nickname of Mermecha) there as well as 2 PIB, 1 Navy and 1 Air unit.. The Sazzarran Armed Forces wanted Wellington badly, and to eliminate the sea base even more, so other than the Brawler, 2 Sea, 1 Air and 2 Land units that deploy through the portal, they get support from Sydney with a Sea Leviathan, Ironsides, EarthShaker, and two Sea units.

The battle ends badly for the UNRF. They lose everything at Wellington. The Kaiju survive with the Sea Leviathan, Earth Shaker, Ironsides and Brawler, as well as 1 Reaper unit.

By the end of Turn 5, the Kaiju control, Wellington, Sydney, Perth, Manila, Anchorage, Vancouver, Panama City and Lima. They have four active bases. The UNRF had two active bases at Hawaii and Mexico City. and the remainder of their meager forces at the other eight cities.

The Kaiju won with a whopping 162 VP's to the UNRF with 138 VP's. It could have been close, but the three portals and sending in four Titans in Wellington was too much for the human forces. Better luck next time, pink skins.

The takeaway from the last two games, is the following:

1. Anything that had multi-limb attack or could attack 4 times was only allowed to attack each unit type once or Titan/mecha once. So that way it could not use all four attacks on one unit/Titan/mecha. It seemed to work out.

2. Keep the Sea Leviathan out of combat as much as possible, and if it does start to take hits, withdraw it to a base to get healed on the next turn.

3. The humans did not get any nuke cards on game 50 and did not use up Resource cards to get any. They should have in the first turn when they had enough resources. That would have given them a chance to get 20 VP's and maybe catch up to the Kaiju in points by Turn 5. Or maybe not.

4. As soon as Kaiju forces take over a zone, Immediately use the three Rescource Cards to get another base in play. It helps to give the Kaiju player more Command Cards and beter protection for the zones they control.
